Sunflowers Launches LGBTQIA+ Cancer Support Group in Liverpool

Liverpool community wellbeing organisation Sunflowers has launched a dedicated LGBTQIA+ cancer support group, creating a safe and inclusive space for people affected by cancer.

Based on Aigburth Road, Sunflowers Liverpool provides a range of health and wellbeing services, offering emotional support, counselling, complementary therapies and community programmes designed to improve quality of life for people facing a variety of challenges.

The new "Together v Cancer" LGBTQIA+ Cancer Support Group welcomes anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community who is currently living with cancer, has experienced cancer, or is supporting a loved one through their cancer journey. The group aims to provide a confidential and understanding environment where people can connect with others who share similar experiences.

Held on the last Saturday of every month from 10am to 12 noon at Sunflowers, the sessions offer an opportunity for members to share stories, access peer support, and build a sense of community during what can often be an isolating time.

Organisers say the group was created to ensure LGBTQIA+ people affected by cancer have access to support that recognises their unique experiences and needs. By bringing people together in a welcoming and inclusive setting, the initiative hopes to reduce isolation and promote wellbeing across Liverpool's LGBTQIA+ community.
